We hope you enjoy reading about our recent trip to Cardenas Cuba in July. While there, we worshiped with the youth of our sister church in Cienfuegos, made new friends and brought needed supplies and medicines. It was an incredible experience for all of us – one that changed our lives and those of the people we met. A special thanks to all the generous members of St. Paul's By-the-Sea who gave their time, talent and treasure to make this amazing journey possible!
We need more water!
Potable water is the big issue today. We never seem to have enough of it. Carlos the bus driver and I went for another water run after we came back from the beach and found a small store selling it for about $1.50 a gallon. We bought ten gallons but I believe we cleaned him out. Since there are few tourists who come to Cardenas, we may continue to have problems. Carlos told us that clean water is a big issue in Cuba. Folks who live here are getting sick because the rains have increased the amount of pollution seeping into the water supply. We take so many things for granted in the USA and fresh, clean water is one of them.
